Join Thousands as They Puppy Up! Against Canine Cancer on November 7th!

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --(Business Wire)--

It began with a promise to raise awareness of canine cancer one mile, one city, and one person at time. Luke Robinson with his two dogs walked 2000 miles from Austin to Boston to fulfill the promise he made to his dog Malcolm who died from this horrible disease.

The 2000 mile walk is over now but they still need your help to continue fulfilling the promise. 2 Million Dogs was formed on the premise that if 2 dogs can walk 2000 miles to bring awareness to canine cancer and comparative oncology then 2 million dogs should be able to walk to 2 miles.

On November 7th, thousands of people are joining in this war against cancer by walking by themselves or with their dogs in twelve cities across the nation: Atlanta, Auburn, WA; Boston; Cincinnati; Edinboro, PA; Fairborn, OH; Fort Collins, CO; New Milford, CT; Pittsburgh; Poughkeepsie, NY; Richmond, VA; and Seattle. And those not living near ny of the participating cities are waging their personal battles in a virtual walk-walking those two miles around their neighborhoods and in local parks. Join a Puppy Up! Walk in your area by visiting www.2milliondogs.org/walks.

Robinson stated, "We walk to support those with cancer, to honor the friends we've lost, and for those we can help."

Research has shown us that dogs and humans get many of the same types of cancers. If we study already existing cancers in our canine companions, we can help develop not only better treatments for them, but also better treatments for humans as well. Because these studies will also help with the cost of treatment for the animals involved, more people will be able to afford to have their companions treated for this deadly disease.

The funds raised from these events will be used to fund canine cancer and comparative oncology research.

Be a part of this historical event and Puppy Up! against cancer in a city near you. Never before have so many joined in the war against canine cancer and walked on the same day in cities across the nation.
