China Unicom to launch iPhone banking services with China Merchants Bank


BEIJING, Nov 03, 2010 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China Unicom (00762.HK; 600050.SH; CHU.N YSE) and China Merchants Bank (600036.SH) have signed a cooperation ag reement to jointly launch mobile banking services through the Apple iP hone.

The two parties established a strategic cooperation partnership to develop the mobile Internet in July, 2009.

The two parties plan to launch further cooperation in mobile paymen t, mobile banking, and financial applications by mobile phone.

The telecom operator's total revenues and net profits respectively topped 125.11 billion yuan and 3.27 billion yuan in the first nine mon ths of this year.


China Unicom reported mobile service revenues of 63.59 billion yuan in the first three quarters of 2010, rising 20 percent from the same period of 2009, including communications revenues of 60.52 billion yua n, up 16.8 percent year on year. The average revenue per user (ARPU) o f the mobile service in January-September was 43.5 yuan.


The A shares of China Unicom moved up 0.76 percent to end at 5.29 y uan on Wednesday. (Edited by Gaoyuan, [email protected])
