Shazam: Mobile Discovery App to Support Microsoft's Windows Phone 7Oct 29, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Shazam, a mobile discovery provider, has announced that its mobile discovery application would be available on phones supporting Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system, which launched on Oct. 21 in some European markets. According to a release, users of Windows Phone 7 devices will be able to download a free version of Shazam from the Windows Phone Marketplace with unlimited tagging as part of the launch offer. "We're pleased to be part of this important new launch by Microsoft which extends Shazam's reach across operating systems and handsets even further," said Alex Musil, VP of Product Marketing for Shazam. "Shazam on the Windows Phone 7 platform is re-imagined for the innovative interface design and allows users to easily add to their music library using Zune. We expect the number of Shazamers to grow exponentially as new handsets built on Windows Phone OS 7.0 hit the global market." Shazam said it has been available to Windows Mobile users, who are among the now 75 million total Shazam users around the world, since 2009. During the initial launch period, Windows Phone 7 users will enjoy unlimited tagging. The Company reported that users will also be able to purchase tagged tracks direct from the Zune Marketplace. "The music experience on Windows Phone 7 is great right out of the box -- consumers can sync their music collection wirelessly and stream or download tunes from Marketplace," said Charlie Kindle, GM, Mobile Developer Ecosystem at Microsoft. "As a music fan myself, I love tagging new music with the Shazam App and then adding songs to my collection with my Zune Pass. Shazam makes a great Windows Phone 7 music experience even better."
