Microsoft Software Head Ray Ozzie Steps Down (MSFT)


Oct 19, 2010 (SmarTrend News Watch via COMTEX) -- 10/19/2010-Bill Gates' successor as Microsoft's (NASDAQ:MSFT) Chief Software Architect, Ray Ozzie, is stepping down from his position at the company after five years of service.

In an e-mail sent to MSFT employees, CEO Steve Ballmer announced the change, saying that Ozzie would remain on at MSFT for the transition period.

Ballmer added that the company wasn't looking for a replacement.

Ozzie headed the effort to migrate to cloud computing after joining the company in 2005 when Microsoft bought Ozzie's collaboration software company, Groove Networks.
