'Hibernia to build submarine fibre network from NY to London'

Oct 01, 2010 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- Trans-Atlantic high-bandwidth connectivity provider Hibernia Atlantic will build a cable route from New York to London offering high frequency traders the latency under 60 milliseconds. The Project Express, a submarine network, will enhance the Hibernia's Global Financial Network and will be the shortest route from New York to London that will initially use 40G technology and can be upgraded to 100G technology in the future. Express is a four-fibre pair optic cable system and the first phase will begin with a new cable from the County of Somerset in the UK, to Halifax in Canada then connect to Hibernia's current low latency cable from Halifax to New York. In addition, the system will include branching units for future latency enhancements to the US and Continental Europe. The network is projected to be completed by the summer of 2012.
