Mellanox and Arista Deliver Breakthrough 10GbE Latency for Financial Services Applications

Mellanox (News - Alert)® Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ:MLNX)(TASE:MLNX), a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end connectivity solutions for data center servers and storage systems, and Arista Networks, a leading provider of low latency 10GigE Ethernet switches for enterprise data centers, today announced that IBM (News - Alert) WebSphere MQ Low Latency Messaging maintained a latency of 4µs at rates up to 100K messages/second and 6µs at one million messages/second using Mellanox ConnectX-2 EN NICs with RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet) and Arista 7100 10GigE switch. Latency remained consistently low as the number of multicast groups increased from one to one thousand. Such breakthrough performance is critical for financial institutions and other enterprise applications for which every millisecond of improved latency translates to millions of dollars in potential increased profitability.

RoCE is an add-on feature to Mellanox's ConnectX-2 EN adapters that implements the IBTA RDMA over Converged Ethernet standard and utilizes the popular OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED) and application programming interfaces (APIs). ConnectX-2 EN with RoCE supports both 10 and 40 Gigabit Ethernet today, making it the only Ethernet NIC (News - Alert) future-proofed for 40 Gigabit Ethernet fabrics of the near future.
