IBC 2010: NetroMedia Introduces Live Multiplatform Streaming with VSiCaster

Sep 19, 2010 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- NetroMedia, global CDN and streaming service provider (http://www.netromedia.com), revealed VSiCaster for the first time in Europe at IBC 2010 conference and exhibition, held in Amsterdam. The company adds this hardware device to its existing "cloud-based" multiplatform solutions.

"We were expecting positive responses from visitors to our stand, but all of us were overwhelmed by the amount of interest people have found in both VSiCaster and our other core solutions," said Che Pinkerton, President and CEO of NetroMedia.

"Although Hybrid TV and 3D Content are the buzz words that will dominate our space in the next little while, from a practical standpoint our market is still in need of high-quality Live and On-Demand streaming solutions - such as those offered by NetroMedia." Mr. Pinkerton commented from Helsinki, Finland, where he is meeting with several parties interested in adding multiplatform capabilities to their current layout. He will continue from there to London, where meetings of similar nature will be held.

On top of VSiCaster, NetroMedia offers its clients the ability to stream to multiple devices using a combination of free or propriety encoding software, connected to its global Content Delivery Network (http://netromedia.com/about-us/content-delivery-network-cdn.aspx). VSiCaster does stand out however in the sense that it requires nearly no initial setup. Once an input device is plugged in, the unit can immediately connect to an internet-enabled network and broadcast through NetroMedia's CDN.

VSiCaster features h.264 MPEG-4 AVC video (up to 4Mbps) and audio reaching 384kbps with a sample rate of up to 48KHz. Multiple video resolutions (including PAL/NTSC resolutions) are supported, as well as BNC composite input and S-Video input.

During IBC 2010 representatives from universities, churches and broadcasting networks have all shown great interest in integrating multiple units of VSiCaster with their current distribution system, a layout that attracted significant interest at NAB 2010 as well.

"It has been a very interesting year for our industry as a whole and for NetroMedia," said Jason Potter, Director of Client Services at NetroMedia, "We are continuing to grow, steadily, thanks to our focus on developing creative and effective solutions that address real problems, faced by real people." NetroMedia has confirmed its participation in IBC 2011, which will take in Amsterdam from 8-13 September. A total of 48,521 people attended IBC this year, 8.7% more than last year. This figure is expected to grow as well as next year.
