BRIEF: Homeowner scares off burglars [The Wenatchee World, Wash.]

(Wenatchee World, The (WA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sept. 02--WENATCHEE -- A Wenatchee man interrupted a burglary at his home late Wednesday morning but still lost jewelry, a digital camera and two iPods.

The man came home about 11:45 a.m. and saw one man inside his home, said Sgt. John Kruse, a Wenatchee police spokesman. The homeowner told police he heard the suspect call out the word "Jose" to another suspect before fleeing from the house, getting on a motorcycle and heading eastbound on Crawford Street. The burglary took place in the 1200 block of Crawford Street.

The homeowner did not see the second suspect, Kruse said. Witnesses said they saw a young adult male walking along an irrigation canal at about the same time.

Among the items left behind was a .22-caliber rifle, Kruse said.

One suspect is in his early 20s and was wearing a gray motorcycle helmet, a gray sweatshirt, black pants and black tennis shoes, Kruse said. He was about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 140 pounds. The motorcycle was described as a black sports-type bike, possibly a 10-year-old Kawasaki.
