[August 05, 2010] BRIEF: Woman found in Deep Creek, flown to hospital Tweet Aug 05, 2010 (Daily Press - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- DEEP CREEK --Rescuers airlifted a woman from Deep Creek Hot Springs on Tuesday night after she apparently suffered a seizure while on a hike, authorities said. T h e u n i d e n t i f i e d woman was able to call for help a little before 5 p.m. before her cell phone battery ran out. After more than two hours of searching on the ground and by air, a rescue helicopter flew her out to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center i n C o l t o n at a b o u t 7:30 p.m., San Bernardino County Fire officials said. Her condition was not immediately released. According to initial reports, the woman was hiking in Deep Creek about a mile into the t ra i l , p o s s i b l y w i t h another person, when she suffered a seizure. She managed to make a call to 911 and her friend went for help. S a n B e r n a rd i n o County Sheriff 's officials searched for the woman from the ground and the sheriff's helicopter also assisted in the rescue effort. Authorities encourage anyone who plans o n h i k i n g o r go i n g out to remote locations to always be prepared with enough food, wat e r, wa r m c l o t h -- ing and a working and fully-charged cell phone.
