Consona Announces the General Availability of Service Gateway 4.1

Jul 30, 2010 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Consona Corporation, a worldwide leader in providing customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and services for companies of all sizes, today announced the general availability of Consona Service Gateway 4.1 (SG 4.1) (http://crm.consona.com/software/products/service-gateway.aspx), previously known as SupportSoft ServiceGateway. SG 4.1 configures, manages and supports multiple broadband home devices for a full range of service fulfillment and assurance operations. Meaning, when a customer calls for new or additional service, Service Gateway will automatically authenticate the customer, set up the device using an Auto Configuration Server and enable service to begin, all carried out via a secure walled garden environment. The result is a reduction in the cost of installation and support as well as improvement in the quality and consistency of service and support.

SG 4.1 continues to be best in class in the remote device provisioning and management market with respect to product features and functionality, scalability and architecture. Of the many features introduced with SG 4.1, key changes and enhancements include the following: New interface for CPE WAN Management Protocol (CWMP) data model import to easily add, update and customize new device data models. Support for the latest Broadband Forum requirements for Simple Traversal of UDP Networks (STUN) enabled devices. Ability to integrate with third-party tools to monitor key system performance metrics via Java Management Extensions (JMX) Infrastructure changes to support storage and display of IPv6 devices. Platform support for Oracle WebLogic 9.2 MP3.

With the release of SG 4.1, service providers now have the ability to add and support STUN enabled devices. Service Gateway can communicate with TR-069 compliant hosts behind the home gateway-whether that is a piece of consumer electronics, or a PC running an enabled version of Consona Dynamic Agent (http://crm.consona.com/software/products/dynamic-agent-enterprise.aspx)-to initiate communication with devices that sit behind a NAT.

Another key feature enhancement is the ability to directly import data model definitions which provides a new interface within SG 4.1 to easily import, update and manage data models-as defined by the Broadband Forum (http://www.broadband-forum.org/)-for new devices simply by uploading its XML data definition. Taking it one step further, data models are no longer "read-only" and can now be customized through an improved GUI interface.

Consona also added the first phase of support for IPv6 in SG 4.1, with the ability to record and use IPv6-format addresses within the application, including the database and UI. The added support includes the ability to: read and process IPv6 addresses within a device's data model (such as contained with a CWMP Inform message); search for devices that register with IPv6 address; use IPv6 addresses instead of IPv4 addresses when processing policies; and allow the system to support IPv4 and IPv6 devices at the same time.

"SG 4.1 represents an important step forward in remote device provisioning and management," said Tim Hines, vice president of product management for Consona's CRM products. "With this release we are not only providing key enhancements and features that meet the needs of our current customers, but we're providing solutions which support the future needs of digital service providers, as the industry continues to require new functionality to impact the way devices are handled and supported.

Consona Service Gateway 4.1 plays an integral part of the Consona Customer Activate, Serve and Expand (CASE) solution and is now generally available on-premise or as a cloud deployment.
