[July 01, 2010] Avnet Gains Certification as Cisco Unified Computing System C-Series Authorized Configurator in U.S. and Canada Tweet Jul 01, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Avnet Technology Solutions, a company specializing in solutions distribution and an operating group of Avnet, Inc., announced it has been certified as a Cisco Unified Computing System C-Series Authorized Configurator (UCAC). According to a release, this certification enables Avnet to configure pre-built base Cisco Unified Computing Systems C-series servers by integrating processors, memory, hard drives and adaptors, accelerating customers' time to market. As a U.S.-based UCAC distributor, Avnet noted it will assist value-added resellers (VARs), including Cisco's authorized ATPs, Gold, Silver and Premier partners; direct value-added resellers (DVARs) and independent software vendors (ISVs) in the U.S. and Canada in designing, building, configuring and integrating Cisco's data center portfolio as integrated solutions. The company said these solutions will assist partners in delivering more flexibility to their customers, meeting customer needs, and helping them realize the benefits of Cisco's unified computing architecture in their virtualized data centers. "Data centers are extremely complex environments, and CIOs and IT managers want to work with partners that understand how to develop holistic solutions that specifically address their unique business challenges," said Chris Swahn, vice president and general manager, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, Cisco Solutions Group. "As an authorized Cisco configurator, Avnet's integration services will enable our channel partners to provide their enterprise and small to-mid-sized (SMB) customers with built-to-order data center and virtualization solutions." Avnet's solutions architects will work with resellers and ISVs to provide them with hardware integration, software configuration, packaging and logistics, and maintenance services. These services include custom cabling and racking; application uploading, configuration and testing; virtualization partitioning; operating system installation; custom image loads; and database installation. Avnet's integration services allow reseller and ISV partners to focus their resources on their core business strategies, while relying on the supply chain services of Avnet Technology Solutions to complete the sales process. Avnet will integrate the solutions in its Global Solutions Center in Chandler, Arizona.
