[June 28, 2010] 'Draka launches Cat.6a cable in Reelex packages' Tweet Jun 28, 2010 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- Dutch cable producer Draka Communications has launched its patented twin-foil Cat.6a cable in Reelex packages. This packaging system offers more than 300 m of UC500 S23 Cat.6a cable per box. Draka UC500 S23 Cat.6a meets IEEE 802.3 requirements for up to 10Gbase-T data applications as well as all other network services over Class EA channels. The four 0.56 mm twisted pair copper wire conductors are individually screened with Draka's patented, aluminium laminated plastic foil, which provides return loss and attenuation characteristics over a 500 MHz frequency range. Reelex tangle-free technology is a patented method of winding a cable such as cord, wire, cable or tubing into a figure of eight coil, in such a way as to result in a reel-less, self supporting cable dispenser. This coil feeds the cable from the inside-out without twists, tangles or snags, minimising overruns. Draka's reel-less Cat.6a packages will be available in the UK in autumn of this year, with further plans for mainland Europe distribution at a later stage.
