Snaptu Reaches the 10 Million Users Mark

Snaptu, the company with a unique mobile platform that delivers fast, fun and effective services that work on almost every mobile phone, announced that they now have 10 million users.


 
Snaptu also said that they got a secured $6 million funding in B round that's headed by Carmel Ventures, a venture capital fund in Israel whose investments are focused primarily on early stage companies in the fields of Software, Communications, Moblity, Internet, Media, Semiconductors, and Consumer Electronics. Rina Shainski, the general partner of Carmel Ventures, will be part of the Snaptu Board. The company who headed the first round of funding, Sequoia Capital (News - Alert), will also partake in this round.

 
By providing an easy to use, fast and compelling service that has the most popular social networking services, sports, web tools, news and weather combined in one environment, Snaptu has altered the way people with regular phones make use of the mobile web.
 
Ran Makavy, the chief executive officer of Snaptu, said that reaching the 10 million mark demonstrates the demand from people with regular phones to have the same experiences and access to services that the comparatively few people with the high-end phones enjoy. This is quite a thrilling time for Snaptu as they go on rolling out easy to use, high quality services that can be accessed by everyone. The company is pleased that Carmel Ventures acknowledged the value of Snaptu's vision and to join Sequoia Capital as stakeholders in Snaptu's business.
 
Rina Shainski stated that Snaptu is dealing with the underserved huge majority mobile users around the globe by showing that a superior user experience is possible on any data capable mobile device. Snaptu has undergone exponential viral growth since it was introduced. They are altering the face of the mobile web by offering high quality, easy to user services to all mobile users. Carmel Ventures is pleased to support Snaptu in this mission.
 
In related news, Fujitsu (News - Alert) Limited and Toshiba signed a memorandum of understanding to merge their mobile phone businesses.
