Rebtel updates Android appJun 24, 2010 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- Mobile VoIP company Rebtel today announced the release of a new version of its Android app, which can be used to make low-cost international calls between two Android phones. The company said that the app, which facilitates low cost calling for international calls between over 50 countries, works by intercepting any international number which is dialled on the handset's keypad and forwarding it over a local rate call to the Rebtel network, from where it is forwarded over the Rebtel VoIP network to the destination country. Calls made between two Rebtel equipped Android handsets are free of charge in respect the international part of the call, with both caller and recipient paying on the respective local rate charges for the call. International calls between a Rebtel handset and any other phone may cost as much as 95% less than traditional long distance rates, according to the company.
