Du to roll out VoIP services next month(Gulf News (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dubai Du will launch Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services for its UAE customers next month, Gulf News has learnt. Farid Faraidooni, chief commercial officer of du, told Gulf News that "we developed this service and submitted it to the Tele-communications Regulatory Authority (TRA). We will probably be the first operator in the UAE to launch a set of VoIP services next month. You will hear of this service soon." He did not disclose details about the service provider. TRA earlier said that VoIP services will only be available through etisalat and du and the authority will determine the VoIP policy within the UAE. Internet protocol Faraidooni added that all du's services offered in the UAE are based on the internet protocol. Saeed Irfan, Research Manager, Telecommunications, IDC Middle East, Turkey and Africa, told Gulf News: "I think we will see a growing market in terms of traffic, but it all depends on what product mix the operators are packaging for the service and how it can sustain their overall business."
