[May 31, 2010] U.S. Marine Corps Plans to Use Syncsort BEX for Tactical Data Network Data Distribution System Tweet May 31, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Syncsort, a company specializing in performance data integration and data protection software, announced that the U.S. Marine Corps will use Syncsort BEX as the data protection solution for its Tactical Data Network Data Distribution System-Modular (TDN DDS-M). The company said TDN DDS-M is a modular, scalable Internet Protocol (IP) communication and networking system that enables deployed Marines to establish secure, networked voice, data, video conferencing and other communication capabilities among commanders, joint and coalition forces. In March 2008, General Dynamics C4 Systems was awarded the TDN DDS-M contract to produce the next generation TDN DDS-M system for the U.S. Marine Corps. General Dynamics C4 Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics. As part of the program, the Marines and General Dynamics needed a data protection solution for the system that was shown in tactical environments and could protect the critical data associated with email messaging, file sharing, and the storage of tactical information. According to a release, Syncsort BEX was selected because of the Marines' familiarity with the solution and for its ease of use. "The TDN-DDS-M connects Marines to tactical networks wherever they deploy. Using advanced communication and networking technologies, the system significantly reduces size, weight and power consumption over earlier versions," said Scott Butler, vice president of Computing Technologies for General Dynamics C4 Systems. "The Marines and General Dynamics' selection of Syncsort's BEX extreme data protection software builds on our rich heritage of effectively working with and supporting all four branches of the U.S. Military and many other federal clients," said Flavio Santoni, Chief Executive Officer, Syncsort.
