[May 19, 2010] 'Spain to surpass Germany, Netherlands telecom market growth' Tweet May 19, 2010 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- Total revenues generated by the Spanish telecoms market will grow at a CAGR of 2.7 percent in the 2009-2014 period. Total revenues will reach a cumulative EUR 181 billion, surpassing the growth for Germany and the Netherlands over the next five years, according to a new report from Pyramid Research. The study further indicates that as Spain recovers from the economic recession, its communications market will also recover. While the market has reached high saturation levels in some segments, the uptake of new services such as data cards, M2M, IPTV and VoIP will accelerate its growth during the 2009-2014 period. The mobile data market is expected to be particularly attractive both in terms of the volume of the revenue it will generate and revenue growth. The main drivers behind this mobile data explosion will be the uptake of data cards, as well as M2M services, which will see a multifold expansion in usage particularly in the area of automotive telemetry. On the fixed access market, broadband-based services are forecast to register a strong expansion as operators start investing more in new access technologies, such as fibre optics, which will provide higher internet speeds, as well as increased QoS and diversification of service offerings.
