'SFR launches Google Nexus One'(DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) French mobile and broadband operator SFR has launched the Google Nexus One smartphone on its website and will make it available at all of its stores and via mobile phone retail chains on 25 May. The phone running Google's Android 2.1 (Eclair) operating system, starts at EUR 129 with SFR's new Illimythics 5 subscriptions. It also sells for EUR 239 with a capped plan and for EUR 419 with a prepaid contract. SFR is the first MNO to offer the new handset in France, although it has been available at online phone stores and from MVNO Prixtel. The Nexus One features a 2.7-inch AMOLED touch screen, 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM. It gives users access to the latest Google services, including a new version of Google Maps, a new browser interface and popular applications such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk and Android Market. Android 2.1's features include 3D photo albums and a 3D-effect when the menu opens. The Nexus One will use SFR's 3G/3G+ network and 2 million Wi-Fi hotspots across continental France.
