Quest Expert Earns Microsoft Certified Master for SQL Server 2008 - Only Fifth in U.S. Outside of Microsoft to Achieve Status

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: QSFT) today announced that Brent Ozar, one of its SQL Server experts, has achieved SQL Server 2008 Master status. Ozar is only the fifth person in the United States outside of Microsoft (News - Alert) to achieve this highest level of certification. With this insight into Microsoft and SQL Server development that only a select few outside Redmond have, Ozar provides Quest customers with technically advanced solutions to their issues while providing content for a wider audience on SQLServerPedia, the company's SQL Server online community at www.sqlserverpedia.com, and other customer forums.

"The SQL MCM program was founded in 2006, and, as of today, only 71 individuals hold the SQL MCM certification in the world," said Joe Sack, Microsoft MCM program manager. "Brent's achievement of the SQL Server 2008 Microsoft Certified Master certification is remarkable for two reasons. First, the United States SQL MCM 2008 community has only 5 individuals working outside of Microsoft. Second, even very talented candidates don't always achieve certification on the first attempt. Brent is part of a very small group of individuals who was able to pass three written exams and a six-hour hands-on qualification lab all on the first try."

"Brent was an active member of the training rotation, and will now be an integral participant and leader in our SQL MCM community," Sack continued. "The fact that Brent also works for Quest Software (News - Alert), a valued Microsoft Global ISV Partner, lends an additional opportunity for Brent and the MCM community to help customers get the most out of their SQL Server investments."

The SQL Microsoft Master program represents the highest level of technical training and certification that Microsoft offers. The certification is designed to recognize, develop and valiate an individual's ability to implement, design and troubleshoot solutions built with SQL Server. During the SQL MCM training, candidates are expected to demonstrate an ability to use their skills, knowledge and experience to successfully address the most complex customer requirements.

"The best part of earning the MCM is pushing myself further with the latest techniques from the best instructors, giving me another level of expertise to work with customers and help advance the SQL Server community," Ozar said. "For me, SQL Server is a passion, and sharing the deeper insight with our customers is something I'm proud to be able to do."

Quest Software's award-winning products are developed by some of the industry's top experts, recognized by their industry peers and the IT community. Quest's products embody decades of its experts' collective experience, and they also share what they know via a wide variety of blogs, podcasts, books, and articles.

"The MCM brings additional credibility to the advice and direction Brent gives in that he's been taught and certified by the best and brightest, right at Microsoft," said Jeremiah Peschka, senior DBA, Cass Information Systems. "Further, on those occasions where we need even deeper information, the MCM designation means Brent knows where to get it and, more importantly, has the connections at Microsoft to actually get it. That's a huge benefit when we're working on time-sensitive and mission-critical projects."
