China Information Security Market to Grow at 21.5% Yearly

BEIJING, Apr 22, 2010 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China's information security product market is predicted to reach a compound annual growth rate of 21.5% in the coming years from 2010 through 2012, CCID Consulting Co., Ltd. (SEHK: 8235), a Hong Kong-listed consulting firm, said in a forecast report.



The market is going to step into a fast-growing phase next, the report noted. Its size is estimated at CNY 16.658 billion by 2012, and it will enter a growth period after 2012.

Jia Juan, vice general manager of the Research Center for Software and Information Service Industries at CCID Consulting, pointed out that the size of the market arrived at CNY 9.294 billion in 2009, with a 17.2% rise year on year. The market's future growth sources would be from mobile Internet security, mobile cloud computing security, trusted computing, trusted network, security authentication, security management, data security, secured transmission, and emergency security service.


The China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) said in its 2009 research report that 5.6% of China's personal computers used by Internet users were installed with security software.

However, the CNNIC added, there is negligence among those cellphone-based Internet users in the country. Last year, the most headaches faced by cellphone-based Internet users in China were spam emails and messages; 86.5% of them received them, and 81% were harassed, and only 7.4% of them used security software.
