China to adopt four measures to boost Internet of things development, official


NANJING, Apr 01, 2010 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China will take four measures to support telecom operators to initiate innovation and application of the Internet of things technology, so as to boost the industry's development, said Wen Ku, director of the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).



The measures include: First, China will strive to achieve breakthrough in key core technology of the Internet of things, so as to realize science and technology innovation. The nation vows to enhance the research and development of the Internet of things technology solutions in different industries, and construct related public platforms.

Second, a national development plan for Internet of things will be constituted, which will focus on the development of terminals, equipment, software and information services related to the Internet of things, such as high-end sensor, MEMS, smart sensor, and ultra-high-frequency RFID.


Third, China will promote the application and demonstration of classic Internet of things, so as to boost industrial development.

Fourth, the nation will formulate domestic and take part in the formulation of international standards for the Internet of things, encourage technology innovation, and protect related intellectual property rights.

Wen said at the 2010 Internet of Things Application Forum here that with the spontaneous participation of China's backbone enterprises in the Internet and telecommunication sectors, a complete industrial chain of Internet of things has gradually formed. (Edited by Luo Jingjing, [email protected])
