ElanTech Awarded Department Of Homeland Security (DHS) Contract For Next-Generation GIS Public Health Emergency Management Software

Mar 31, 2010 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- ElanTech today announced that it has been awarded a new contract from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for a public health extension to its proven Incident Management Decision Support System (IMDSS) (http://www.imdssonline.com/). The new software tool, IMDSS-H, will bring together all information pertinent to the management of a public health emergency in a single, intuitive, geospatially organized digital dashboard. IMDSS-H will provide public health incident response teams with a current operational picture and decision support tools to support public health emergencies.

"IMDSS-H provides much needed support to public health incident response teams who may be faced with conflicting data and incomplete information when they arrive at the scene of an incident," says Gabor D. Kelen, M.D. "The efficiency of public health first response and subsequent recovery operations can be greatly improved with technology that provides a complete, real-time operational picture of current efforts." ElanTech is a government prime contractor specializing in the development of real time web based GIS solutions for Emergency Management. ElanTech's software is currently deployed as the ground station for the Army's Unattended Transient Acoustic MASINT System (UTAMS) (http://www.elantech-inc.com/Products/UTAMS.aspx).

"We began our work on IMDSS for the DHS in 2009, and we believe this new contract reflects the solid results and innovative capabilities we've been able to deliver thus far," says Swati Allen, President. "This public health extension to IMDSS will be an exciting development for the emergency response community - and it's a vote of confidence for our organization." Awarded through the National Institute of Hometown Security (NIHS), the IMDSS-H contract was a joint award with Murray State University to advance emergency response and disaster prevention efforts specifically to support public health incidents. Program partners include Johns Hopkins Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response (CEPAR) (http://www.hopkins-cepar.org) and the National Center for the Study of Preparedness and Catastrophic Event Response (PACER) (http://www.pacercenter.org), a Homeland Security Center of Excellence and the University of Louisville.
