'Belgium internet connections increase almost 7% - ISPA'

The total number of active internet connections in Belgium rose almost
2 percent in the fourth quarter, and 6.71 percent in the full year to
reach 3,102,306 in December, according to figures by Belgium's ISPA.
The yearly add amounted to 195,034, a higher growth than the 6.20
percent reported in 2008. In the last quarter of 2009, private internet
connection grew 1.8 percent from the previous quarter to 2,565,855.
More than 97.5 percent of these private connections are broadband
connections. The number of business internet connection increase by
1.65 percent to 536,505, of which 97.38 percent consist of a broadband
connection. ISPA based its numbers on the following operators:
Belgacom, Belnet, Brutele, Clearwire Belgium, Colt, Easynet, EDP Net,
Evonet, KPN Belgium, Mobistar, Newlco, Perceval, Proximedia, Interoute,
Scarlet, Tecteo, Telenet, and Verizon Business.
