India's Sify launches cloud based storage and virtualisation offering


Feb 17, 2010 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- India's Sify Technologies Limited (Nasdaq: SIFY), a provider of network and IT services to consumers and businesses, today announced the launch of its cloud based On-Demand storage service for enterprise customers, offering an SLA based utility that the company said will be able to manage the complete lifecycle of enterprise information.

The Sify platform is based on hardware and solutions provided by Hitachi Data Systems, including Hitachi's Adaptable SAN storage and Hitachi NAS, allowing customers to provision, deploy and manage their requirements in a flexible manner while only paying for resources they actually consume. The Sify SLA offers a 99% availability guarantee on the storage system.

Sify are also providing tools to improve reliability, scalability, availability and to reduce the total cost of ownership and say that the solution can be used for applications ranging from complex database applications to secondary backup storage.


Pricing details for the solution were not disclosed, nor did Sify disclosed the cost of building the infrastructure or the value of the contract with Hitachi.
