The company's share of the global new equipment GSM market rose to almost 20%, making ZTE one of the top three equipment vendors in the industry. In 2009, ZTE successfully sold its GSM products to world-class multinational operators such as Telenor, Teliasonera and Cell C, making large-scale advances in European and emerging markets. Recently, research conducted by Frost & Sullivan shows that GSM continues to drive mobile subscription' growth in major markets. Global GSM accounts for 83.5 percent of global mobile subscribers and this major proportion has been consistent for a number of years. Up to 2009, there were over 3.93 billion GSM/WCDMA/HSPA subscribers worldwide. From 2004 to 2009, ZTE's GSM product sales maintained growth of over 100% each year, the fastest growth in the industry.
