'Dutch broadband infrastructure ready for the future - study'(DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Dutch broadband infrastructure is one of the world's best, according to a Deloitte study for NLKabel. NLKabel said that available download speeds satisfy broadband demand and will continue to do so in the future, and so there was no need for the government to become involved in infrastructure investments. A delegation from the cale sector presented the report to Ferd Crone, president of the High Speed Broadband Task Force. The Task Force was set up by secretary of state Frank Heemskerk in order to advise municipalities on how they could stimulate broadband networks. Deloitte concluded from a broader study that small and prosperous countries with competing infrastructures have the highest bandwidths. The Netherlands meets all those criteria. Until 2013, consumer demand is expected to push download speeds up 40 percent to 46-74 Mbps, with the necessary upload speed at roughly one fourth of the download speed. Broadband over cable could theoretically go to 4 Gbps, with the deployment of LTE seen driving mobile broadband.
