LG LTE modem approved for use in Japan(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LG Electronics (Korea: 066570) a specialist in mobile communications, announced today that it has received approval from the Telecom Engineering Centre (TELEC) for its LD100 LTE data modem to be used in Japan. The company said that the certification provides assurance that products have passed a series of tests for consistency with Japanese Radio Law technical regulations. TELEC is designated as a certification authority by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The TELEC certification follows the approval of the modem last year from the United States' Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Having gained TELEC approval, the LD100 will now be technically ready for a field trial with Japan's LTE network, which is being operated by NTT DOCOMO, Japan's largest mobile operator. The Japanese company expects to launch its LTE service later this year. Two other LG LTE modems have previously received FCC approval.
