Huawei 2009 Performed Well in Wireless Products Sector


BEIJING, Feb 01, 2010 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Chinese networking and telecommunications equipment supplier Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. was a big beneficiary in the country's 3G network construction in 2009, according to the data by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.

Huawei snatched a 40% share in terms of newly-added TD-SCDMA network in 2009, a 40.4% share in the CDMA segment, and a nearly 32% share in the WCDMA segment. It also won big GSM orders from China Mobile and China Unicom.

The domestic market contributed approximately 30% to the company' total sales value of wireless products in 2009, Wan Biao, vice president for Huawei's wireless products, disclosed in an interview.


Huawei also enhanced its positions in overseas markets last year. In the fourth quarter of 2009 alone, it won six network construction contracts in Europe.

Huawei became the CDMA network supplier of the US telecom operator Leap Wireless in March 2009, and the WiMAX network supplier of Clearwire in August. Moreover, the company will seek breakthroughs in the US market in LTE products in the first half of 2010, disclosed a person in the know.
