'Mobile social network users in Europe to hit 112 mln in 2010'
(DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) European mobile operators have an opportunity to take advantage of mobile social networking's potential as the number of users in the region is expected to increase from 52 million in 2009 to 112 million at the end of the year, according to a study by Pyramid Research. The users will reach 450 million by 2014. The growth will be driven by penetration of 3G and smartphones, operators' efforts to increase mobile social networking uptake and the efforts of social network providers to promote users. Pyramid Research analyst Stela Bokun said that for the predicted growth, both mobile operators and SNSs should strengthen their collaboration. By collaborating, European operators and global SNSs can create new revenue opportunities from increased data usage and advertising.
