Huawei Completes Pakistani EVDO Rev.A Network Phase I


SHENZHEN, Jan 06, 2010 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Pakistan Telecommunication Co., Ltd. (PTCL, KAR: PTC) launched its CDMA2000 1x EVDO Rev.B (DORB) network phase I lately in cooperation with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., the Chinese telecoms equipment provider announced on January 6, 2010.



The Pakistani mobile operator's end-to-end DORB network was upgraded from its existing CDMA2000 1x EVDO Rev.A (DORA) network, which was also constructed by Huawei Technologies.

The improved network has started service in the Pakistani cities of Karachi and Lahore first, compatible with the wireless broadband uploading and downloading speeds of 5.4Mbps and 9.3Mbps, respectively. In fact, wireless broadband networks have become the mainstream Internet facilities in the country, for local fixed-line broadband networks are inadequate.


Huawei launched its first DORB solution as well as the first type of DORB data cards named EC367 in June 2009, becoming the world's first company that is running in both the DORB system and terminal fields.

In addition, Huawei Technologies snatched a 28% share of the global FTTx equipment market in the first three quarters of 2009, according to the market adviser Infonetics Research.
