China to Kick off Field Tests on TD-LTE


BEIJING, Dec 29, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Telecom networking gear makers Hauwei Technologies, ZTE Corporation (SEHK: 0763, SZSE: 000763), Motorola, and Datang Telecom are set to kick off the second round of field tests shortly after the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) closed the first round of tests on 4G TD-LTE.



The field tests will be focus on the basic functions and overall performance of the devices offered by these makers, says spokesperson for the ministry.

A ZTE executive notes that with the help from the ministry and China Mobile Ltd. (SEHK: 0941, NYSE: CHL), it has gotten the testing field ready in Beijing.


The second round of tests, which will put the priority on massive application, is scheduled to be carried out in the second half of 2010.

Zhou Jianming, general manager at the technical department of China Mobile, says that LTE is inevitable and the tests results show that performance of TD-LTE is stable.
