CCTV.com launches CNTV.cn online


BEIJING, Dec 27, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- CCTV.com, the official website of China's national TV station China Central Television (CCTV) officially launched its online TV portal China Network TV station as well as a video client named CBox on December 27.



The domain name is CNTV.cn.

Users are capable of watching programs of all channels of CCTV and those of dozens of China's local TVs by downloading the video client CBox, and all the videos provided by CBox are free of charge and support high-definition model. Industrial insiders held the existence of the client represents CCTV will participate in the filed of video client and compete with other Internet audio and video players Storm, PPStream, and PPLive.


Zhao Lifan, the general counsel of CCTV.com, introduced that the foremost task of CNTV.cn is to realize the real-time online living broadcast of all the 20 channels of CCTV, and add more functions including on-demand, search, download, and interactive comment. Accordingly, CNTV.cn will be capable of offering programs of 750 hours per day.
