Information security co Promisec shines in dark times: Internet threats can overwhelm regular antivirus solutions.

Dec 08, 2009 (Globes - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Israeli start-up Promisec Ltd. is one information security company that, like many others in its sector, is flourishing in the hard economic times. The company's third quarter 2009 sales were more than double sales in the corresponding quarter of 2008. The company says that its global activity has increased by 2-3 times, and it predicts several million dollars in sales this year.

The standing of information security providers stands out, given the lower priority large customers are giving to enterprise IT expenditures on one hand, and the declining relevance of regular antivirus solutions in the face of advanced threats coming from the Internet.

Promisec develops Clientless Endpoint Management (CEM) software solutions that eliminate threats and optimize corporate internal networks. The technology allows IT managers to identify and resolve security, compliance, and policy issues, without making any changes to the network or terminals.

Promisec says that its new clients include Central Bottling Company Ltd. (Coca-Cola Israel), Clalit Health Fund, Migdal Capital Markets Ltd., Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) and its credit card unit Isracard Ltd., Union Bank of Israel (TASE: UNON), and mobile operator Pelephone Communications Ltd..

Promisec CEO Amir Kotler said, "The company discovered a missing link in security at endpoints." He added that the company's solution contributes to more effective management of enterprise networks and computer systems, and not only on the security side.
