Male 'corset' flies off the selves

(Independent Television News Limited (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Men are flocking to buy a new clothing range that makes them look slimmer.

British online retailer figleaves.com introduced shapewear this spring and have reported higher than expected sales figures.

Men are buying specially designed vests and t-shirts to make their bellies look smaller while investing in underwear to enlarge other areas so they can look like David Beckham in his advertising campaign for Giorgio Armani.

The underwear Senior Buying Manager, Zoe Ellis, says their company has been overwhelmed by the interest in their new product: "Since May, it's come from nowhere really. It's about 10 percent of our men's underwear sales so it's doing really well for us. I think men are looking after their bodies a lot more." At first it was the gay market that started buying shapewear but now it seems straight men are catching up, with blokes taking more pride in their appearance.
