[November 25, 2009] Suspect sought in bank robbery: Man may have also hit a Durham bank earlier Tuesday Tweet Nov 25, 2009 (Times-News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Burlington police are looking for a manwhorobbedabankonHuffman Mill Road on Tuesday afternoon. The description of the man, as well as the surveillance photos taken during the robbery at 12:48 p.m. at Capital Bank at 503 Huffman Mill Road, are similar to photos taken during a robbery at SunTrust Bank in Durham about an hour earlier. Burlingtonpoliceweredispatched toCapitalBankafterahold-upalarm was activated. While police were en route, communications confirmed with the bank that a robbery had occurred, according to a Burlington Police Department news release. Police say that a man described as white walked into the bank and handed a note to a teller demanding money. He was given an "undetermined amount of money" and then he left out the front door and ran through the parking lot toward Panera Bread. He then jumped into a white minivan, which was seen traveling south on Huffman Mill Road toward Interstate 85/40. No one was injured during the robbery and no weapon was displayed. The suspect has a fair complexion and salt-and-pepper beard. He is in his 40s. He has dark hair and is about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing dark sunglasses, a ski-type, hooded jacket that was dark gray or black on top and on the arms. It was red on the bottom. He was wearing blue jeans and a green hat. Durham police say that a man described as white entered SunTrust bank at 1516 N. Gregson St. at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and handed a note to a teller demanding money, according to a Durham Police Department release. "The note said he had a bomb but no weapons were seen," the Durham police release states. That suspect had a beard, was wearing sunglasses, a green ball cap, a black-andred jacket and blue jeans.
