[November 23, 2009] Rival to NBN emerging in capital Tweet Nov 23, 2009 (The Age - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Telco TransACT is launching an upgrade to its fibre optics cabling network in Canberra, to achieve speeds up to 100 megabits per second. However, its faster lines do not go to individual households, unlike the Australian Government's planned national broadband network. TransACT's offer to vend its assets into that infrastructure project were rebuffed, and there is also sizeable overlap with the cabling of Telstra in Canberra.
