Ambient Insight Reports Strong US eLearning Market

SEATTLE --(Business Wire)-- The US market for Self-paced eLearning will grow to $23.8 billion by 2014 according to a new report by Ambient (News - Alert) Insight called, "The US Market for Self-paced eLearning Products and Services: 2009-2014 Forecast and Analysis." "The US eLearning market is rebounding from the slow growth during the recession," reports Chief Research Officer, Sam S. Adkins. "The demand for online education products is growing by 7.4% across all eight of the distance learning buyer segments, but much higher in specific segments. For example, the demand for online training is growing by 19.8% in the healthcare segment and the demand for online education products is growing by 17.3% in the PreK-12 academic segment. The online school providers are experiencing a boom in demand." This report forecasts e-Learning, distance learning, and online training expenditures by eight buyer segments: consumer; corporations; federal government; state and local government; PreK-12 academic; higher education; non-profits and associations; and healthcare.

The free Executive Overview is available at: http://www.ambientinsight.com/Reports/eLearning.aspx "The eLearning market was negatively impacted by the recession, particularly in the corporate segment. The tide has turned and the industry is showing signs of strength again," comments CEO Tyson Greer. "Corporate expenditures for online training in 2009 were down 5.8% from 2008. Yet, the decline has stabilized and the growth is positive again. The corporate segment will be the top buyer throughout the 2009-2014 forecast period." For each buyer segment analyzed in the report, Ambient Insight forecasts spending on six types of Self-paced eLearning products: IT-related packaged courseware, non-IT courseware, custom online learning content services, LMS hosting services, course authoring tools, and installed LMS platforms.

"There are now clear signs of economic recovery in the US online education industry," adds Adkins. "We are seeing this recovery in the worldwide market as well. The US is a mature market, but still growing by 7.4%. The worldwide market is growing by 12.8%. The demand for distance learning in Asia is now growing at a breathtaking 32.8%."
