China Telecom to develop Internet of Things in Wuxi

BEIJING, Nov 23, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China Telecom (CHA.NYSE;0728.HK) and Wuxi's municipal government have signed a cooperation framework agreement to further promote the cooperation on a sensor network (also known as the " Internet of Things ") project on November 23, reported China Securities News.

The two parties will exert great efforts to accelerate the convergence of sensing technologies and China Telecom's wired and wireless broadband network and 3G network.

Wang Xiaochu, general manager of the China Telecom Group, said that the Internet of Things development is inseparable from other communication networks including the internet and the mobile phone network.

And the company just enjoyed some advantages on the field of communication networks.

China Telecom has already conducted significant work and enjoyed high returns from its industrial technology application of the Internet of Thing. The most significant one was the development of China's first IPv6-based Internet of Things' application. The IPv4 address depletion has become a global issue, and IPv6 technology is increasing the industry's concern.
