The group's IT systems were to be disentangled by the end of 2009, in a reorganisation that would divide its business into retail, wholesale and network units. However, New Zealand Communications and IT Minister, Steven Joyce, has granted a nine-month extension. TNZ requested this as it was unable to meet deadlines for integration testing and system changes. To date, the firm has invested $A135m in the separation project.
