Telstra reform may be put on holdNov 22, 2009 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) -- Australian Communications Minister Stephen Conroy's goal of having new legislation passed by the parliament before the 2009-10 summer break is unlikely to be achieved. The changes contained in the Competition and Consumer Safeguards Bill are designed to help the roll-out of the national broadband network and may lead to the separation of parts of dominant telco Telstra, or its being banned from owning half of pay TV service Foxtel and from bidding for new wireless spectrum. However, other bills, such as that on greenhouse gas emissions trading, will take priority for the Government.
