HiBeam Acquires Licensed Spectrum and Unveils New Management TeamNov 21, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- HiBeam Internet & Voice, formerly known as N-1 Communications, announced it plans to bring broadband voice and Internet through WiMAX wireless technology to the nation's tier two through tier five markets. In addition, HiBeam reported it pledges to deliver 99.999 percent up time, while becoming a part of the communities the company serves. To that end, the company announced its acquisition of licensed spectrum and its new management team as HiBeam prepares for its launch into multiple markets. Focusing on un-served and underserved markets, HiBeam announced that it has licensed 2.5 GHz spectrum in roughly 35-mile circles around the following US markets: - Texarkana, AR and Texarkana, TX - Peoria, IL - Mt. Vernon, IL - Topeka, KS - Joplin, MO Combined, HiBeam said this spectrum allows the company to potentially serve a population of 541,693 households and businesses that currently do not have the opportunity to enjoy voice and Internet services. HiBeam's new spectrum represents more than 47,436,873 million MHz/pops of spectrum availability. These leases position HiBeam to become one of the larger operational spectrum holders in the country. HiBeam also announced its new management team: G. Michael Cassity, CEO, is a former BellSouth executive officer and the former president and COO of NuVox. Cassity most recently served as Chief Integration Officer for Telepacific Communications during its acquisition and integration of assets of MPower Communications. J. Keith Coker, CTO, most recently served as CTO at NuVox where he designed a network that brought services that were once designated solely for large enterprises to the small to medium business market. More recently, he managed the strategic shift from traditional switched circuit telephony to a 100 percent voice over Internet protocol system. Christopher J. Benyo, Chief Customer Operations Officer, was most recently Executive VP, Sales & Marketing for NuVox where he managed complex product introductions in the IP networking space as well as a 650-member multi-channel sales force. Chip Gaskins, VP, Corporate Development and Spectrum Planning, most recently led Corporate Development efforts at DigitalBridge Communications. John Cerciello - VP, Market Deployment. Cerciello served as General Manager/Business Development for DigitalBridge Communications before joining the HiBeam team. Prior to DBC, he was VP of National Sales for Comcast Commercial Internet services and was a Division Manager for AT&T Solutions. Marguerite Forrest, Administrative and Human Resources Officer, has management experience in both the public and private sector and has served as the senior officer for corporate administration in three telecom start-ups. Prior to joining HiBeam, Forrest served as Senior VP for NuVox, as well as Brooks Fiber Properties. HiBeam Internet & Voice is a privately owned broadband and voice provider.
