Jason Sean Evans, 30, of 139 McKean Ave., was charged with burglarizing Vanderman Law Offices, 142 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi Chiropractic, 613 Fallowfield Ave., the Knights of Columbus Club, 139 McKean Ave. and two residences, one each in the 100 block Fallowfield Avenue and in the 800 block of Prospect Avenue. Evans was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Larry Hopkins, in Charleroi, on five counts each of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property, and two counts of criminal mischief. Bond was set at $375,000 total, $75,000 for each of the alleged burglaries. He was returned to the Washington County Correctional Facility, where he had been lodged since being charged earlier this month with armed robbery, terroristic threats, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property in connection with an armed robbery at the Sunoco station, 100 First St., Charleroi, at 1:27 a.m. Sunday. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday on the charges stemming from the Sunoco robbery. According to the affidavit of probable cause, an employee discovered Nov. 3 that the front door of Vanderman Law Offices had been kicked in and a window was broken. Several checkbooks and deposit books, three notary public stamps, postage stamps and an electric typewriter were stolen. According to the affidavit, the door at Charleroi Chiropractic was "jimmied open" and a Sony stereo, an HP Laserjet copy/fax machine, a Dell laptop computer, Dell Work station and notary tools were taken. A Sony Bravia 32-inch flat screen television and $50 in cash were stolen from the Knights of Columbus, according to the affidavit. The affidavit alleges Evans stole several DVD players, music CDs, DVDs, rare coins, a Social Security card, a Nano Ipod, and a Coby stereo system from the two homes. Nearly all the items were found when police searched Evans' home Nov. 3. According to the affidavits, Evans' girlfriend, Danielle Zemko, told police she met the suspect in an alley behind McKean Avenue Nov. 3. He was pulling a wagon with items he told her he stole in the burglaries. Chris Buckley can be reached at [email protected] or 724-684-2642.
