BRIEF: Motorola buys wireless tech unitNov 20, 2009 (Chicago Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Motorola's Home & Networks division announced Friday its second acquisition this week, buying the iDEN business of a Redmond, Wash.-based technology company. Terms of the deal with RadioFrame Networks were not disclosed. On Monday, Motorola said it had signed an agreement to buy an Israeli technology company specializing in Internet protocol television. The Home & Networks business makes wireless network equipment, as well as cable television set-top boxes. Motorola developed iDEN as a proprietary technology. On the consumer side, iDEN is best known as the technology behind Nextel's push-to-talk service. RadioFrame's technology boasts lower operating expenses because of efficient power consumption, Motorola said.
