Bono Mack: 'Stimulus' Failed to Deliver Needed JobsNov 20, 2009 (Congressional Documents and Publications/ContentWorks via COMTEX) -- Washington, Nov 19 - Calling attention to recent reports on the false claims, miscalculations and failures of the so-called "stimulus" plan, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today issued the following statement: "Nine months after the 'stimulus' package was passed, residents of Riverside County are still waiting to see the results - and jobs - we so desperately need," said Bono Mack. "Even after borrowing a trillion dollars from future generations and putting our nation into even greater debt by this so-called 'stimulus', we're still not seeing the jobs that were promised. "In our district alone, over $126,392,223 was spent, but only 15.7 jobs were created (or saved). That amounts to $8,426,148 per job! "Our region has been one of the hardest hit by the economic crisis; local residents - and our nation - deserve better than this flawed plan that has vastly failed the American people. "Washington must stop its out-of-control spending and be held accountable to the American people. At this rate of government spending, it would take over a billion dollars to create 100 jobs - this clearly reveals the inefficiency of government largesse. "We need transparency and focused, pro-growth policies that will create jobs by fueling the private sector now and get money back into the hands of hardworking Americans." Bono Mack noted that Riverside County's unemployment rate jumped to a record-high 14.7 percent in September 2009. #DAL1234# |
