Glowpoint Expands Sports Broadcast Network Client BaseNov 20, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Glowpoint, a provider of advanced video communications solutions, announced that a sports broadcast network has selected Glowpoint's managed service for a new program scheduled to air on the network and its website. The customer, whose name is undisclosed due the network's confidentiality policies, has signed an agreement with Glowpoint with an initial value of $250,000 per year that includes services to be paid for on a monthly recurring basis. As part of the agreement, Glowpoint will provide managed video services, and network services, to interconnect ten NFL team locations with the network's broadcast studio. This application allows for two-way interviews and content acquisition, using video conferencing equipment in conjunction with Glowpoint's managed video service. The network will then use the programming content in a live and taped show which airs daily on the network and on their website. The network evaluated several options and ultimately selected Glowpoint's solution, which offers video and audio capabilities combined. The solution was preferred over traditional functionality that feeds audio and video separately, requiring audio on headsets or earpieces. Additionally, the Glowpoint solution enables discreet audio, allowing the production staff to communicate live with show hosts without the fear of interviewees being interrupted. Glowpoint's Vice President of Broadcast Services Dan Boland said, "Glowpoint continues to be recognized as a flexible, high-quality solution with compelling value for the broadcast industry. This particular broadcast solution will go beyond typical on-air programming to a broadband community that can view the show worldwide. As broadcasters seek to expand their reach for both on-air and online properties, we expect to see increased traction and acceptance in this market." Glowpoint is scheduled to attend the Sports Video Group League Technology Summit event in New York on December 15. ((Comments on this story may be sent to [email protected])) |
