Primordial Search Brings Google-Like Searches to 22 Customers and Over 25 Million Radiology ReportsSAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- Primordial, Inc. announced today the 22nd deployment of its radiology report Search application. Radiologists and administrators gain instant search-and-retrieval access to hundreds of thousands and in some cases millions of reports. Collectively, hospitals with Primordial Search now have search access to more than 25 million reports. Radiologists use simple or advanced queries in a Google (News - Alert)-like interface to get results in split-second time, all from a standard web browser either inside or outside of their PACS system. "I have used the Primordial search system to make lectures for medical students and residents. Gathering cases takes minutes instead of hours. It has revolutionized my ability to teach," said Gary Danton of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. Jackson Memorial performs approximately one million reports annually, which Primordial Search indexes automatically in real-time as they come in. Primordial's Search application is provided on a single search appliance installed at the customer's data center. It quickly pre-loads old reports from the customer's archive, either through queries of the PACS' report archive, or through HL7 backloads. (Primordial provides back-loading services at no charge.) Primordial Search also receives copies of new HL7 messages being sent to the PACS or RIS, ensuring search results are always current. Users simply point their browser to the Primordial Search application, log in, and search away. Because the reports are indexed and searched on Primordial's Search application, there is no impact whatsoever on existing systems. "We were amazed at how quickly the Primordial Search application was deployed," said Jill Holmstrom, IT Manager at Christiana Care Health System. "Primordial started collecting previous reports from our PACS with no impact to our operations, and within a few days, our pilot users were off and searching! The Primordial search is intuitive and physician friendly." Christiana Care is one of the largest health care providers in the mid-Atlantic region. Primordial Search offers additional features, enabling users to tag (News - Alert) reports for teaching purposes, to save frequent and complex queries for reuse, and to view a holistic summary of a patient's imaging history. It also automatically detects the reading radiologist, and can prioritize results by relevance, chronology, and many other criteria. Finally, it can be integrated with PACS to deliver images for side-by-side display with the reports. "Primordial Search is a core component of Primordial's Analytics platform," said Karan Bajaj, Architect at Primordial. "We will soon be searching image DICOM data, teaching files, and many other sources of information." Mr. Bajaj also notes that Primordial Search fits in well with Primordial's Metrix product line, which provides a real-time digital dashboard of backlogs, turnaround times, problem situations, and other data. Primordial will be showcasing Primordial Search at Booth 3253 (South Hall) at this year's Radiological Society of North America (RSNA 2009) trade show in Chicago.
