Corning will debut on the News 12 Long Island anchor desk on Monday, November 23rd at 5:00 p.m. Corning and Applegate have worked together before; on WNYW-TV's popular morning show Good Day New York from 2006 to 2008. Ron will be a tremendous addition to the News 12 Long Island team.” Corning has enjoyed a long and successful career in local news, first starting as a general assignment reporter for CBS affiliate WDTV in Bridgeport, West Virginia. He moved on to become a weekend anchor and reporter at WBOY, the NBC affiliate in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and then at WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio. Corning’s first foray into a major market was at Fox affiliate KTVI in St. Louis, Missouri, where he won an Emmy Award for Live Spot News Coverage in 1997 before joining Fox affiliate KCPQ in Seattle, Washington. Corning entered the national arena as a news anchor on the CW’s syndicated morning talk show, The Daily Buzz from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 to 2006, he co-anchored the ABC overnight news program World News Now and ABC’s World News This Morning and was a correspondent for Good Morning America. Corning graduated from Wheaton College in Massachusetts in 1993.
