(Canadian Press Broadcast Wire (Canada) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NEW YORK --- Investors are turning cautious as an unexpected drop in home construction and disappointing forecasts from technology companies raise concerns about the economy's recovery.

The modest drop Wednesday comes a day after stocks closed at 13-month highs.

The government says construction of homes fell 10.6 per cent in October.

That's below forecasts.

Technology shares slid after forecasts from software maker Autodesk Inc. fell short of expectations.

The Dow Jones industrial average is down 12 at 10,426.

The S&P 500 index is down one at 1,110.

The Nasdaq composite index is down 11 at 2,193.

Falling stocks outpaced those that rose on the New York Stock Exchange.

Volume totalled 1.1 billion shares compared with 972 million Tuesday.
