Intelsat to Supply Communications Infrastructure for Gilat SatcomNov 19, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Intelsat announced that Gilat Satcom has signed multi-year renewal and expansion deals with Intelsat, securing capacity and teleport services that will increase Gilat Satcom's offerings for its domestic networks and broadband services to its customers in Africa. Gilat Satcom renewed its contract for capacity on Intelsat 901 and Intelsat 702, located at 342 degrees E and 66 degrees E, respectively. The company also signed prelaunch capacity commitments on Intelsat 14 (IS-14) and Intelsat 17, which will be located at 315 degrees E and 66 degrees E, respectively. In addition to these commitments, Gilat Satcom also initiated services on Intelsat 1R (IS-1R), at its current orbital location and contracted for additional capacity that it will use once IS-1R is moved to 310 degrees E following the launch of IS-14. Gilat Satcom also will utilize Intelsat's Fuchsstadt, Germany, teleport to host its broadband platforms. Intelsat is currently expanding its Fuchsstadt facility with the addition of 15 new antennas to enhance customer options for accessing the Intelsat fleet. "Long-term planning for our network platform and maintaining continuity of service into and out of Africa is critical for meeting current and future needs of our customers. This deal also allows us to expand our business in a new direction by providing domestic network and broadband services for our African customers," said Roy Hess, Gilat Satcom's CEO. "Intelsat's satellite and teleport infrastructure provides us with an effective solution for delivering the most in-demand applications such as Internet connectivity, private networks, VoIP services and disaster recovery communications to our enterprise, ISP and government customers." "By 2012, Intelsat will deliver approximately 5,000 MHz of incremental capacity to the African region." Gilat Satcom delivers voice, data and Internet telecommunications services using a variety of other fixed and mobile technologies. Gilat Satcom provides broadband Internet connectivity, mobile satellite services, VSAT private networks, wholesale Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services and disaster recovery. ((Comments on this story may be sent to [email protected])) -Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Says Inventory to Accommodate Single Sheet Eco-Posters Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. announced that nearly all of its poster inventory will accommodate single sheet Eco-Posters, reducing landfill waste by recycling nearly 100 percent of ECO-Poster materials upon completion of campaigns. According to Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Eco-Posters are created with polyethylene, a commonly-recycled plastic. With a visual quality is comparable to vinyl executions, Eco-Posters maintain their visible integrity longer, 90 days as opposed to 30 days with the previous posters. "We are dedicated to going green, and have made significant strides in addressing the environmental concerns of our clients and the communities in which we do business," said Paul Meyer, President and CEO, Clear Channel Outdoor Americas. "Since May of this year, Clear Channel Outdoor has recycled over 260,000 pounds of ECO-Poster material and anticipates that over 400,000 pounds will be recycled by year's end."
