[November 18, 2009] Trial in June shooting and robbery at Mars postponed Tweet Nov 18, 2009 (Arbutus Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Suspect found with gunshot wounds after search The trial of a 41-year-old Baltimore man charged with shooting at a security guard during a robbery in June at the Mars Super Market, on Maiden Choice Lane and Westland Boulevard, in Arbutus, scheduled to stand trial in Baltimore County Circuit Court was postponed on Monday, Nov.16. Prosecutors in the case requested the trial, scheduled to begin Nov. 23, be postponed to give them more time to prepare their case against Jamison Harvey Johnson, said Johnson's attorney, Assistant Public Defender Lisa Derers. The trial is now scheduled to begin Feb. 8. Johnson, of the 1200 block of North Washington Street, in Baltimore, faces 18 separate charges including attempted first-degree murder, multiple first-degree assault, armed robbery and theft and nine separate gun charges. He is currently being held at the Jessup Correctional Institution. A guard on duty at the store was not injured during the exchange of gunfire with Johnson but Johnson sustained multiple gunshot wounds while fleeing from the Mars store with cash from a customer service desk, according to police. Johnson entered the store in the 1000 block of Maiden Choice Lane June 21 at 6:52 p.m. and "announced the robbery" before demanding money from employees behind the desk and receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. When the store's security guard confronted Johnson near the entrance to the store, Johnson shot at the guard, police said. The guard returned fire and Johnson ran into the parking lot and got into a green Honda Accord, police said. As he drove away, he again shot at the security guard, who again returned fire, police said. The car was found a short time later at the end of Wilton Farm Drive, in Catonsville, police said. Johnson was found about five hours later, when a police officer involved in an area-wide search spotted him walking along Kenwood Avenue, in Catonsville suffering from several gunshot wounds, police said. After a brief foot chase, Johnson was caught and taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he received treatment for the wounds before being charged, police said. One of the gun charges Johnson faces is for possession of a firearm with a felony conviction. In 1996, Johnson, then living in the 1800 block of West Pratt Street, in Baltimore, was found guilty of robbery with a deadly weapon, according to court records.
